Hey, I'm Vito
By day I teach computers to be clever. By every other hour, I'm trying to convince a hockey puck to go where I'm pointing — and, honestly, the computers are winning.
road
I'm a Master of Science in Applied Computing student at the University of Toronto — which is a very formal way of saying I spend my days thinking about how machines think, then booking a train somewhere far away so I can stop thinking entirely. This site is the "somewhere": the wrong platforms, the windows fogged with breakfast, the long quiet hours that never quite fit inside a lecture hall.
A few true things about me
I've been playing ice hockey for about six months — long enough to skate, fall, and apologize to the ice, usually in that order. So naturally the sensible next move was to plan a solo trip across the country that invented the sport. No notes.
I watch films like there's an exam afterward. I'll pause on a single cut and turn it over for ten quiet minutes. Whether that's a personality or a diagnosable condition is still being litigated (by me). The upside: I catch the cinematic little moments when I travel. The light. The framing. The strangers who'd make excellent extras.

What this place is
Back in 2024 I wandered through Malaysia and Singapore and kept diaries I never showed a single soul. They're here now, dusted off and slightly embarrassing in the best way.
What's'next is bigger and a lot more daunting: a solo trip across Canada, documented close to real time, if I happen to have signal.
I study computer science, so it'd be extremely on-brand to pretend a lone genius hand-coded this whole thing by candlelight. The truth is friendlier: I built this site with AI, and some of the words here had an AI co-pilot too. The living, the falling on the ice, the questionable hostels — those are all me. The machines just helped hold the ladder. It seemed only fair that someone studying this stuff should be the one to say so out loud.
Anyway — pull up a chair, ideally with a flat white. Glad you're here.

Come say hi
Got a tip, a question, a film I absolutely have to watch, or a couch in a city I'm about to ruin? I read everything — even if I reply three time zones late.
