Art, History, and Tacos in Singapore

I woke up feeling burnt out today, so I decided to sort of take a day off today since I’ve been moving around non-stop from the start of the trip. I had my first traditional breakfast at a eatery near my hotel, consisting of 2 half-boiled eggs, 1 cup of tea of coffee and 2 pieces of kaya toast. The toasts were not exceptional compared with those I tried in my next few days in more renowned stalls and I didn’t eat the eggs because I thought they were still raw.

I took a bus to the city hall area which turned out to be the most frequently visited place of my trip. The National Gallery Singapore was free to visit today, so I took my time to enjoy the artworks by artists based in South-east Asia and also accidentally joined an English guided tour, which were informative and interesting. National Gallery Singapore has been transformed from the former Supreme Court and City Hall buildings so there are also a lot of descriptions about the history of them. A distinctive feature offered by most of the attractions in Singapore is the exclusive app of the attractions that offers more useful information catered towards visitors, which I found quite helpful.

I had dinner in a Mexican restaurant I found via a popular food app among locals, Burpple. The restaurant was dim and had a large bar at the center. I ordered 2 chicken tacos and 2 fish tacos, which were fabulous. Before these were served, I was given tortilla chips accompanied by a green salsa and a red salsa as appetizer and a bottle of plain water for free. The meal had been the most expensive meal I had in Singapore, but tasted good.

I came back to the gallery and continued enjoying the artworks and learning its history before it’s closed.
